Welcome to the Desert Arabian Horse Association

The Desert Arabian Horse Association, formed in 1950 by a small group of dedicated Arabian horse owners, is the oldest Arabian Horse Association in San Diego County, and the second oldest in Southern California.

DAHA, a non-profit incorporated association, has as its primary purpose the encouragement, perpetuation, exhibiting, and use of the Arabian horse.  Equally important is the dissemination of information regarding the history, characteristics, genetics and husbandry of the breed.  To realize these ends, DAHA sponsors and conducts exhibits, clinics, and shows designed to emphasize the outstanding qualities of the Arabian.

From Donna Miner:

I have a friend, Ann Byrns, who is on a quest to walk across the US from east to west, with her trusty mustang, Winnie.  Ann and I became friends through the summer riding program at UConn almost twenty years ago.

Her journey west means that the last of my long-term riding buddies is moving on.  It's a bittersweet parting, as I will miss sharing classes with her in the evenings, but the joy I feel in seeing her personal growth with Winnie is far greater than my loss. This is an amazing quest (and not this lady's first big venture...ask her about India!)   I'm very much hoping that she will find the trail to be kind, people to be friendly and the weather to be fair.

On the first portion of her journey, she will be looking for friends near the following towns:

Great Barrington, MA
Leeds, NY
Kerhonkson, NY
East Stroudsberg, PA
Shenandoah, PA
Sunbury, PA
State College, PA
Philipsburg, PA
Punxsutawney, PA
Lisbon, OH (North Country Trail)
Zoar, OH (North Country Trail)
Mt. Vernon, OH
Powell, OH (rest for 5-6 days)
Fort Hill, OH (North Country Trail)
Bantam, OH

If you would like to host her, support her trek, wish her luck, or simply
read about her journey, I invite you to view her website at
